Human Trafficking and Slavery Policy
Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It manifests in various forms such as slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking—all characterized by the deprivation of a person’s liberty for personal or commercial exploitation.
Staples4You.com maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and is committed to conducting all business dealings and relationships with the highest ethical standards and integrity. We are dedicated to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery does not occur within our operations or any part of our supply chains.
We also strive to maintain transparency in our business practices and our approach to combating modern slavery throughout our supply chains. This commitment aligns with our disclosure obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We expect our contractors, suppliers, and other business partners to uphold the same high standards.
This policy applies to all individuals working for us or on our behalf, including employees at all levels, directors, officers, agency workers, seconded workers, volunteers, interns, agents, contractors, external consultants, third-party representatives, and business partners.
This policy is a part of any employee’s contract of employment and may be amended at any time.
Responsibility for the Policy
Overall responsibility for ensuring compliance with this policy rests with the Company, which must also ensure that those under its control adhere to it. Management at all levels is responsible for ensuring that their subordinates understand and comply with this policy, providing them with adequate and regular training on modern slavery issues within supply chains.
Compliance with the Policy
All personnel must read, understand, and comply with this policy. The prevention, detection, and reporting of modern slavery within our business or supply chains is the responsibility of all those working for us or under our control. Employees are required to avoid any activities that might lead to or suggest a breach of this policy. Any conflicts with this policy must be reported to a line manager or company Director immediately.
Employees are encouraged to raise concerns about any issue or suspicion of modern slavery at the earliest possible stage, whether within our business or supply chains at any supplier tier. If a breach of this policy is suspected or has occurred, it must be reported to a line manager or company Director.
If employees are uncertain whether a particular act or treatment of workers constitutes modern slavery, they should seek guidance from their line manager or company Director. The Company aims to foster an open environment and will support anyone who raises genuine concerns in good faith under this policy, even if the concern turns out to be mistaken. We are committed to ensuring no one suffers detrimental treatment as a result of reporting their suspicion that modern slavery is occurring or may occur within our business or supply chains. Detrimental treatment includes dismissal, disciplinary action, threats, or other unfavourable treatment connected with raising a concern. Anyone who believes they have been subjected to such treatment should inform their line manager immediately.
Breaches of This Policy
Employees who breach this policy will face disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal for misconduct or gross misconduct. We may also terminate relationships with other individuals and organizations if they violate this policy.
